An air conditioner draws in air from the room and with it dust and other dirt. The filters catch some of it, while the rest settles inside the unit. Professional cleaning and disinfection removes dirt from places you cannot reach during routine maintenance. We clean air conditioners in Bratislava and the Bratislava Region.
Why air conditioner cleaning matters
Moisture forms in the indoor unit during cooling. Combined with settled dust, it creates an environment in which deposits and unpleasant smells can develop. A dirty heat exchanger and fan also reduce the airflow, so the unit works less efficiently.
- a clean unit cools and heats better,
- it helps remove a musty smell from the air conditioner,
- it reduces the risk of a blocked condensate drain and dripping water,
- it extends trouble-free operation of the unit.
Cleaning the indoor unit
The indoor unit is the part of the air conditioner most exposed to dirt from the room. We clean the filters, covers, heat exchanger (fins), fan and condensate tray. While cleaning, we protect the wall and floor under the unit from dirt.
Air conditioner disinfection
After cleaning, we treat the heat exchanger and inner parts of the unit with a disinfectant designed for air conditioning equipment. Disinfection complements mechanical cleaning – a spray alone, without cleaning, does not remove the dirt.
Cleaning procedure
- Checking the unit and how it works before cleaning.
- Switching off the unit and covering the surrounding area.
- Removing and washing the filters and covers.
- Cleaning the heat exchanger, fan and condensate tray.
- Disinfecting the inner parts of the unit.
- Checking the condensate drain.
- Reassembly, start-up and a function check.
Depending on the condition of the unit, we may also recommend checking or cleaning the outdoor unit.
Recommended maintenance frequency
The indoor unit filters are cleaned regularly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Thorough professional cleaning is usually recommended once a year with normal household use, preferably before the summer season. With year-round operation, in a kitchen, in a dusty environment or with pets, it may be needed more often. Read more in the article on our blog.
