Building a family house in Bratislava or the surrounding area? We will design a Daikin heat pump based on your project, install it and look after its servicing. We have completed approximately 150 heat pump installations. It is best to contact us before the first-fix pipework at the latest.

Why to get in touch before the first-fix pipework

At this stage everything can still be prepared without chasing walls or making later changes. You can decide in time about things that are hard to change later:

  • the place for the outdoor unit, with regard to noise, neighbours and defrost water drainage,
  • the plant room for the indoor unit and hot water tank,
  • pipe routes and the electrical supply,
  • the type of heating, especially underfloor heating and its water temperature,
  • whether you also want cooling in summer, because the unit, controls and heating system must all allow for it.

What we will prepare for you

  • An output design based on heat loss from the project or energy performance certificate, not an estimate from the floor area. New builds have low heat loss and an oversized unit switches on and off unnecessarily often.
  • A choice of Daikin Altherma unit based on the house, hot water consumption and the space in the plant room.
  • A quote with the exact scope of work.
  • Installation and commissioning, including setting up the controls and explaining how to operate them.
  • Servicing after installation from the same company.

Which models suit a new build

The overview is based on the manufacturer’s data. The suitable model is determined by the design for your house. We explain the differences in the article Monobloc or split heat pump: the differences.

How we proceed

  1. You send us the project or energy performance certificate and tell us what stage the build is at.
  2. We assess the heat loss and propose the unit, output and positions of the units.
  3. We prepare a quote.
  4. We agree on what to prepare before the first-fix pipework and before completion.
  5. We install, set up and commission the unit.

What to prepare

  • project documentation or an energy performance certificate,
  • the type of heating, for example underfloor heating,
  • the number of people in the household,
  • a provisional place for the plant room and outdoor unit,
  • whether you want cooling and whether you are planning photovoltaics.

Subsidy for a new build

The Zelená domácnostiam II contribution is not provided for houses under construction. The house must be registered in the land register and have a registration number. So do not count on the subsidy in advance during construction. Check the conditions on the Subsidies page. Climaservice s.r.o. is certified to install heat pumps eligible for the state subsidy.

Where we work

We handle new builds in Bratislava and the surrounding area, for example in Stupava, Chorvátsky Grob, Ivanka pri Dunaji, Bernolákovo, Pezinok and Senec. You will find examples of our work under projects.

Questions about heat pumps

All questions
What is the difference between an air conditioner and a heat pump?

Both work on a similar principle – they transfer heat between the outdoor and indoor environment. An air conditioner (air-to-air system) heats or cools the air in the room directly. An air-to-water heat pump heats water for the heating system (underfloor heating, radiators) and hot water for the bathroom and kitchen. Read more on our blog.

Can a heat pump also cool?

Some heat pumps can. It depends on the type of unit and the heating system – cooling is possible, for example, through underfloor systems or fan coil units designed for it. With standard radiators, cooling is generally not used.

Is an air-source heat pump worth it?

It depends on the house. The key factors are insulation, the type of heating system, hot water consumption and what you currently heat with. We do not quote general savings percentages – we assess the benefits for your specific house.

Is a heat pump suitable for an older house with radiators?

Often yes, but it requires the right design. For radiators that need a higher water temperature, high-temperature heat pump variants are used. The insulation of the house also matters. We will assess whether it is a suitable solution in your case.

What heat pump output do I need?

The output is determined by the heat loss of the house, not by its floor area. A project or energy performance certificate, information about insulation, the type of heating and hot water consumption all help. Read more in the article What heat pump output do I need.

Can I get a subsidy for a heat pump?

Households can use the Zelená domácnostiam programme, managed by SIEA. The conditions, the amount of the contribution and the dates change – you will find current information at zelenadomacnostiam.sk. Read more in the article Heat pump subsidy.

How noisy is a heat pump?

Noise comes mainly from the outdoor unit and depends on the model, the current output and the location. Do not place the unit under bedroom windows or in narrow spaces where the sound reflects. Read more in the article Heat pump noise.

What should I do if a heat pump fails?

Note down the error code, check the circuit breaker and whether the outdoor unit is blocked by snow or objects. Do not interfere with the refrigerant circuit, and contact a service technician. Read more in the article Heat pump service.

Does a heat pump work in severe frost?

Yes, an air-to-water heat pump heats even in frost. However, its output and efficiency fall as the temperature drops, so the design has to allow for this. The manufacturer states the operating temperature range for each model. Read more in the article Does a heat pump work in frost?

Do I have to change my radiators when replacing a boiler?

Not always. It depends on the water temperature the house needs. It is often enough to replace a few of the smallest radiators or choose a high-temperature unit. Only an assessment of the house gives the answer. Read more in the article Replacing a gas boiler with a heat pump.

Who handles the subsidy application?

The registration and application are primarily made by the household, and by the installer only with an officially certified power of attorney. We prepare the design, check that the equipment is on the list of eligible equipment and supply the invoice and documents needed for the application. Conditions change, so see the current status on the Subsidies page.

How many years does a heat pump take to pay back?

There is no single figure that applies to every house. It depends on the price of the equipment, the subsidy, your current heating, heat loss and energy prices. When replacing a gas boiler, the payback can be long. We explain how to calculate it in the article Heat pump payback.
