How to choose an air conditioner installation company

When choosing an air conditioner installation company, it is worth looking not only at the price but also at what exactly you get for that price, who will do the installation and who will take care of servicing. Here is a list of questions that will help.

1. Certification to work with refrigerants

Work on the refrigerant circuit may only be carried out by persons holding the relevant certificate. Ask who will do the installation.

2. A clear quote

The quote should contain the model and output of the unit, the scope of the installation, the length of pipe included, the installation materials and the price including VAT. With a quote without a breakdown, the price may change on site. Read more in the article How much does an air conditioner with installation cost? What affects the price.

3. Assessment of the conditions

A reliable company asks about the room, the position of the units and the pipe route, and may ask for photos or carry out a site visit. We describe what this procedure looks like in the article How a site visit and air conditioning quote work.

4. Warranty and service

Find out what warranty conditions apply to the unit and the installation, and whether the company also provides servicing and cleaning. An air conditioner needs regular maintenance throughout its service life.

5. Experience with the brand

A company that works with a specific brand knows its units, spare parts and the manufacturer’s procedures.

6. Communication

Did you get answers to your questions? Did they explain why they recommend a particular model? Good communication before installation usually also means good communication during servicing.

7. Warning signs

• a price with no breakdown at all,
• pressure to decide immediately,
• output determined without any questions about the room,
• unclear information about who will carry out the installation.
