How much does an air conditioner with installation cost? What affects the price

The price of an air conditioner with installation is made up of the price of the unit, the installation materials and the labour. While the price of the unit is clear for a specific model, the installation price can vary considerably depending on the conditions on site. That is why we only set it honestly once we know the details.

What affects the price of the unit

• output – larger rooms need more powerful units,
• series and features – noise, efficiency, filtration, design, app control,
• type of system – a separate split unit or multi-split,
• type of indoor unit – wall-mounted, floor-standing, cassette, ducted.

What affects the installation price

• the length of pipe between the indoor and outdoor units,
• the location of the outdoor unit – balcony, high on a facade, roof,
• wall openings and the thickness or material of the walls,
• condensate drainage – by gravity or with a pump,
• the electrical connection and protection,
• pipe routing – in trunking, in a chase or in a suspended ceiling.

How to compare quotes

When comparing, do not look only at the final amount. Check:

1. whether it is the same model and output,
2. how many metres of pipe are included in the price,
3. whether the price includes installation materials, trunking and a bracket,
4. whether the price includes commissioning and removal of packaging,
5. whether the quote states the price including VAT.

Running costs

When installation tends to be more demanding

• the outdoor unit is high on a facade and access requires a platform or other equipment,
• the pipes run through several rooms or through a thick wall,
• the condensate cannot drain by gravity and a pump is needed,
• there is no suitable electrical supply at the unit location,
• there are several units or a Multi system.

• the dimensions of the room and its orientation,
• a photo of the wall where the indoor unit will go,
• a photo of the facade, balcony or terrace where the outdoor unit will go,
• the floor and the approximate distance between the units.
