Why is regular air conditioner servicing important?

Regular servicing keeps your air conditioner in good technical condition, helps maintain its performance and efficient operation, and makes it possible to spot small problems before they cause a breakdown in the middle of summer.

What happens to an unmaintained air conditioner

Clogged filters and a dirty heat exchanger restrict airflow. The unit then needs more time to reach the set temperature and may run more noisily. A blocked condensate drain can cause water to drip from the indoor unit. A dirty outdoor unit, in turn, releases heat less effectively.

What we check during a service

  • the filters, heat exchanger and fan of the indoor unit,
  • the condensate drain,
  • the outdoor unit and free airflow around it,
  • operating values during cooling and heating,
  • the electrical connection and the controls.

How often to book a service

For normal household use, a service is usually recommended once a year, ideally in spring before the summer season. With year-round use, in offices or in dusty environments it may be needed more often. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations in the user manual as well.

When not to wait for the regular appointment

  • the air conditioner does not cool or heat as it used to,
  • water is dripping from the indoor unit,
  • an error code appears on the display,
  • the unit makes unusual noises or smells.

Book your service in good time

Demand for servicing is highest before the season, so it pays to book in advance. More about the service can be found on our Air Conditioning Service page. If your air conditioner smells, see also cleaning and disinfection.
